Healing is a part of the Package

Healing is a concept of hope for our bodies.  Our idea of being saved deals with the unseen part of us that will exists forever somewhere.  Healing deals with the part of us that we can see, that has an expiration date.  It is appointed unto man once to die and then the judgment.

The me I see at times can make the me I can’t see to be in turmoil.  When I hurt, it effects every part of me.  What we see and feel seems more real than what we believe and hope for.  It is interesting to consider that Jesus dealt with this part of humanity almost exclusively in his earthly ministry.  We see him speaking about salvation, but a great bulk of his fame was not based on his eternal qualities but his temporal benefits.

It is interesting to consider that when Jesus ascended into heaven, he took very little with him from the earth.  I believe he did take the scars of his sacrificial beating and death.  His hands, his feet and his side were still able to be witnessed after the resurrection.  If this is true, I imagine that in the body of Christ that is in heaven sitting in that place of power, he can reach back with his hands and rub the indentations and rise of glorified flesh and remember the price that was paid for all of us who are still bound in these temporal temples relegated by time and plagued by weakness.

Healing is a part of the Redemption package.

Healing is a part of redemption.  In discussing this thought with a dear friend, he mentioned this to me.  In the midst of teaching this, the link between healing and salvation was illuminated to me in a very clear way.   Jesus linked salvation with healing and healing with salvation.

The Blood of Jesus paid for the salvation of our souls flowed through broken flesh, wounded flesh, wearied flesh and this transfer of blood through broken flesh provides the doorway of healing for our physical bodies.  Jesus Christ is our Healer.  Jesus looked at a man who needed healing and said to him, “Thy sins be forgiven thee.” The crowd of skeptics reasoned that, “Only God can forgive sins…”  Jesus dealt with them and told them, “What is easier to forgive sins or say arise and be healed?”  The thing that Jesus was telling them is sin is the root cause of sickness, not necessarily individual sin, but the root of sickness and disease is found in the original sin whose stain we carry with us in our genetic makeup.  The essence of who we are that we inherit from our parents at times has anomalies and weakness built in and different conditions and syndromes are a part of the human condition are passed down.

Jesus gave you and I hope in this scripture, if we believe him for our salvation we can raise our level of faith for healing.  This link between healing and salvation exploded in my spirit while teaching in our midweek service.  Like one hundred eureka moments in a moment.  I had never seen this connection before like I do now.

The psalmist David put it this way, “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;”

This link is made in a very real way in the New Testament in the epistle of James.  This scripture is where we establish our tradition that we see in many of our services.

James 5:14-15  Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:  (15)  And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

The same blood that gives us salvation, gives us healing.

The same Spirit that reconciles us, heals us.

The same prayer of faith for healing brings forgiveness.

Lets raise our bar of expectation and faith for healing.   There is a doorway that is opened for healing to salvation.   Healing can be a gateway experience to salvation.

Let the sick say I am healed, because of what the Lord has done for us..”

Healing and Salvation is available for the sick and the sinner.

“           And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.”  Matthew 9:2

“For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?   But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.”  Matthew 9:5-6

Below is a little bit of the lesson outline I used in my lesson.

The psalmist David put it this way, “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;”

The me I see finds hope and healing by the same blood and spirit that the me I cannot see find faith and hope.  The blood that purchased my soul salvation provided the promise of healing.

Healing is a very Biblical part of the Christian Faith.

healed is in the scripture 77 times

heal is in the scripture 89 times

healeth is in the scripture 4 times

healing is in the scripture 14 times

184 times the bible speaks of this hope for healing in our bodies.

Jesus wants you to be healed.  He provided many avenues for healing.  God accommodates you where your faith is.

You can pray for yourself.

Someone with a Gift of Healing can pray for you and you receive your healing.

You can call for the elders of the church and they can anoint with oil and you can be healed. James 5:14-15  Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:  (15)  And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.Anyone who believes can in the Name of Jesus pray for your healing.

Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;  (18)  They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

And even if you don’t have faith for yourself, the faith of others can bring healing.

Luke 5:18-20  And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.  (19)  And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.  (20)  And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

Luke 5:17  And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.

Exodus 15:26  And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.
