THE TRUTH ABOUT THE BIBLE 

Man desires to know truth. He has been searching for it since he was created. To search for truth is wise. Jesus tells us, “You will know the truth and the truth will make you free” (John 8:32 NLT). When you find the truth you will find freedom.

THE BIBLE-A RECORD OF TRUTH!

Some men never find truth. They do not know where to look. Wise men look to the source of truth, God. But how does God reveal truth?

God has shown us truth by having His Word written down. We call the written Word of God the Bible. Every word in the Bible is truth that God wanted men to know. Therefore, He told holy men what they should write down. “Understand this first: No part of the Holy Writings was ever made up by any man. No part of the Holy Writings came long ago because of what men wanted to write. But holy men who belonged to God spoke what the Holy Spirit told them (II Peter 1:20-21 NLT).

By studying the Bible we learn the truths of God and not just what men think. God’s truths work to change us and improve our lives. “All the Holy Writings are God’given and are made alive by Him. Man is helped when he is taught God’s Word. It shows what is wrong. It changes the way of a man’s life. It shows him how to be right with God” (II Timothy 3:16 NLT).

Man is blessed when he knows how to be right with God. To be wrong with God will cause you to be punished forever. The only way that we can be right with God is by giving our lives to Him. His Word, the Bible, tells us how to do this. Without the Bible we will be like women who are always listening to new teachings but are never able to understand the truth (II Timothy 3:7).

To depend upon any source other than the Bible for truth is wrong. What philosophers, scholars, great men, and religious leaders think are only valuable when they agree with the Bible. God is truth and to not believe God’s Word is to be against God and truth.

PROOFS THE BIBLE IS TRUTH:

One proof that the Bible is truth is the fact that it still exists. Satan, God’s enemy has tried to destroy God’s Word. However, God has kept it from harm so we find truth. H. L. Hastings stated it well:

“Infidels for eighteen hundred years have been refuting and overthrowing this book, and yet it still stands today as solid as rock. Its circulation increases, and it is more loved and cherished and read today than ever before. Infidels with all their assaults, make about as much impression on this book as a man with a tack hammer would on the Pyramids of Egypt. When the French monarch proposed the persecution of the Christians in his dominion, an old statesman and warrior said to him, `Sire, the Church of God is an anvil that has worn out many hammers.’ So the hammers of infidels have been pecking away at this book for ages, but the hammers are worn out, and the anvil still endures. If this book had not been the book of God, men would have destroyed it long ago. Emperors and popes, kings and priests, princes and rulers have all tried their hands at it; they die and the book still lives.”

God’s book is alive and well today. God’s mighty hand has destroyed the Bible’s enemies and saved it.

More proof that the Bible is God’s record of truth is its number one place among books. No other book has been printed more, quoted more, or had more effect upon the world. The Bible remains the greatest book ever written.

Prophecy that has come to pass makes many people who seek truth know that the Bible is truth. Prophecy is God foretelling the future. God knows all things including the future. Sometimes in the Bible He told what was going to happen before it happened. One modern- day fulfillment of biblical prophecy is the Six-Day War of 1967 when Israel retook the city of Jerusalem. The Bible contains more prophecy that will happen soon. By studying God’s Word we can understand some things that are going to take place very soon in the world. God wants us to know these truths so we can be prepared for them.

By accepting the truths of God’s Word we become proof of the fact that the Bible is truth. By obeying the gospel of Jesus Christ as found in the Holy Writings, our lives are changed. When others see that our lives are changed and made better, they know that the Bible is truth.

Scientists and archeologists also are amazed by how correct the Bible is. The Bible contains no error.

CONCLUSION:

Wisdom would tell us to accept the Bible as truth. To reject it is to reject its author, God. God wants us to know His truth. He gave it to us in the Bible. To accept God’s Words is to accept truth and become free. God’s freedom lasts forever. “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away” (Matthew 24:35 NLT). Neither will those people who obey His words. His Words are the key to a wonderful life forever.
