Scott Phillips, pastor of New Birth Pentecostal Church, explains the plan of action for "Church in a Day," a weekend building blitz to construct a church from scratch. The congregation is relocating from its temporary home on Northside Drive to its new home at 610 Springridge Road.

What began as a dream became a reality Sunday for New Birth Pentecostal Church and its pastor, Scott Phillips.

With the help of volunteers and willing craftsmen, a new church was basically completed in little more than 48 hours last weekend.

"We have been blessed," Phillips said, pointing out the few chores left to complete. "This is the work of God."

The church held its first service last November, and since then has been housed in temporary facilities on Northside Drive.

Crews put in long hours Friday, Saturday and early Sunday to finish the major part of construction before opening services at 2 p.m. Sunday.

It now has a permanent home at 610 Springridge Road. Services are offered at 10 a.m. Sundays, with Bible study at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and prophecy studies at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays.
